Infrared Insights - Diffraction Calculator, Chrome Profile Pack, Audiobook

Visible Diffraction Calculator

I've built a new website that calculates diffraction for your camera and infrared filter! Select your camera and filter. The calculator will tell you which ƒ-stops you can use to avoid diffraction. You can view this at diffraction.cAm. That's diffraction dot cAm, as in "camera," not dot com. This video explains how this came to be and how you can use it. Enjoy!

Chrome Profile Pack

Thanks to your contributions, I've created the FREE Chrome Profile Pack. This pack helps set a white balance in Lightroom, Photoshop, and other supported raw editors on infrared images shot with an IR Chrome filter. With some cameras, when you shoot in raw and set a white balance while editing, the Temperature value is limited to a maximum of 50,000 Kelvins. These profiles will shift the temperature to a lower value in those cases, providing more flexibility when setting a white balance. Additionally, I've included a second profile, Chrome+, that adds some punch to reds.

If you have already submitted images to have profiles created, you can download the Chrome Profile Pack. Check to see if your camera is supported. Here are the instructions for adding profiles for your camera to the pack.
